Privacy Policy — YT PolicyGuard
Effective date: August 3, 2026
Publisher: Asset Lab Digital
Product: YT PolicyGuard (Chrome / Edge browser extension)
Contact: assetlabdigital@gmail.com
Summary: Most data stays on your device in browser extension storage.
We do not run an analytics SDK. Optional data is sent to Google Gemini only when you
(Pro) explicitly consent and click “Check with Gemini.” Payments (if you buy Pro) are
processed by Stripe. We do not sell your data.
1. Scope
This Privacy Policy describes how YT PolicyGuard (“the Extension,” “we,” “us”)
collects, uses, stores, and shares user data when you install or use the Extension
from the Chrome Web Store or Microsoft Edge Add-ons.
The Extension helps creators review policy-risk signals in upload metadata they enter.
It is not affiliated with YouTube or Google (except that optional Gemini API calls
go to Google’s servers when you choose). It does not predict ban/strike probability or guarantee monetization.
2. Data we collect (what)
2.1 Data you provide (on-device)
- Draft metadata: video title, description, tags, optional thumbnail filename notes, optional media URL notes you type or select.
- Pro license key (format YPG1-…) if you activate Pro.
- Optional Gemini API key if you paste one in Options.
- Optional image file you choose for Gemini review (bytes leave the device only after consent + click).
2.2 Data generated by the Extension (on-device)
- Usage counters: how many Free rule-checks you ran today (to enforce the Free daily limit).
- Optional check history (Pro): timestamp, overall severity label, short title snippet.
- UI preferences: e.g. Studio banner “hide for 24 hours.”
2.3 Data we do not collect
- No account password for YouTube/Google.
- No automatic scraping of playing YouTube video bytes.
- No browsing history harvest beyond the optional Studio reminder banner injection on
studio.youtube.com (no page content is uploaded to us).
- No analytics/advertising SDK in the Extension package.
- No sale of personal data to data brokers.
3. How we collect data (how collected)
- Direct input: you type metadata or paste keys into the popup/options UI.
- File picker: you choose a local image/video filename (video bytes are not auto-uploaded; image bytes only if you opt into Gemini).
- Local processing: the rule engine runs entirely in the Extension on your device.
- Optional network: only when a Pro user checks consent and clicks “Check with Gemini,” the Extension sends the prompt (and optional image) to Google’s Generative Language API over HTTPS.
- Purchases: if you buy Pro via our Stripe Payment Link, Stripe collects payment details under Stripe’s privacy policy. We receive payment confirmation / customer email as needed to send your license key.
4. How we use data (purpose)
- Provide the Extension’s single purpose: policy-risk checklist (Low/Med/High) and optional user-initiated Gemini feedback.
- Enforce Free vs Pro limits and unlock Pro features with a license key.
- Remember drafts and optional history so you do not re-enter everything.
- Show an optional reminder banner on YouTube Studio.
- Fulfill Pro purchases (email a YPG1-… license key).
- Respond to support requests you send to our contact email.
We use user data only for this single purpose and related operations (security, support, fulfilling a purchase you initiated).
5. How we store data (storage & retention)
- On your device: drafts, license key, usage counters, history, and banner preference in
chrome.storage.local.
- Synced (optional): Gemini API key in
chrome.storage.sync if you save it (synced by Chrome/Edge under your browser account settings).
- Our servers: the Extension does not upload drafts to an Asset Lab Digital application server in v1. License validation is offline (checksum) on device.
- Retention: on-device data remains until you clear Extension storage, uninstall the Extension, or delete it in Options/UI. Purchase/support emails we receive are retained as needed for accounting and support, then deleted when no longer needed.
6. How we share data (sharing / third parties)
We share user data only as follows:
- Google (Gemini / Generative Language API): only if you are on Pro, check the consent box, and click “Check with Gemini.” Content you chose (metadata and optional image) is sent over HTTPS to
generativelanguage.googleapis.com. Processing is subject to Google’s terms and privacy policy for that API / Gemini. You may instead copy a prompt into Gemini web yourself; that is also under Google’s terms.
- Stripe: if you purchase Pro Lifetime via our Payment Link, payment card data is handled by Stripe, not stored in the Extension. See Stripe Privacy Policy.
- Browser vendors: Chrome/Edge store and sync mechanisms process local/sync storage according to Google/Microsoft browser policies.
- Legal: we may disclose information if required by law or to protect rights and safety.
We do not sell or rent user data. We do not transfer user data to advertising platforms or data brokers.
We do not use or transfer user data to determine creditworthiness or for lending.
7. Security
- Network calls (Gemini API) use HTTPS.
- No remote code is downloaded and executed by the Extension; JS is packaged with the Extension.
- You should not share your Gemini API key or license key publicly. You can delete the API key in Options.
8. Your choices & controls
- Do not use Gemini features if you do not want metadata/images sent to Google.
- Clear drafts/history by clearing Extension data or uninstalling.
- Remove a saved Gemini API key in Options.
- Deactivate Pro (switch to Free) in the popup/options.
- Email us to request deletion of purchase/support emails we hold: assetlabdigital@gmail.com.
9. Children’s privacy
The Extension is intended for adult content creators managing their own uploads.
It does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
The product does not assert that content “is made for children”; it may only recommend checking YouTube’s child-directed content policies.
Do not use the Extension to send children’s media to Gemini without lawful rights and consent.
10. Chrome Web Store User Data Policy (Limited Use)
The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the
Chrome Web Store User Data Policy,
including the Limited Use requirements.
11. International users
If you use the Extension outside the United States, your on-device data stays on your device;
optional Gemini or Stripe transfers may involve processing in other countries under those providers’ terms.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy. The “Effective date” above will change when we do.
Continued use of the Extension after updates means you accept the revised policy.
Material changes will be reflected on this page (same Privacy Policy URL used in the store listing).
